Welcome from the Mayor

Located in Southern Middle Tennessee, Fayetteville is a charming community with a number of attractive qualities. We feature one of the most beautiful and economically vibrant downtown courthouse squares in Tennessee. This area is certified by the state as an official Main Street District and is anchored by the largest fabric store in the Southeast, along with a classic sidewalk theatre featuring the newest movie releases.

Just off the square is historic Washington Street and Mulberry Avenue, which feature many historic homes. We also have many new areas of residential and commercial growth that are properly located to protect our community’s historic heritage.

In Fayetteville, we believe in supporting our community. We promote and foster local economic growth by assisting present and potential new business owners with ways to expand and strengthen their businesses.

Fayetteville is a small town with big ideas.

City Grant Work

The City of Fayetteville is currently involved in work with a number of grants that have been secured for our community. The following grants are either in the design phase, construction phase, or have been recently completed.

Funding was obtained to make improvements to the Farmer's Market and provide additional directional signage.

We are also extending the walking trail at Stonebridge Park through the Father's Memorial Area. Additional funding has been acquired to create a greenway to link the park to Fayetteville's Main Street area.

The Main Street area has a different look today due to the new street lights which were recently installed. Additional improvements are continuing in this area. The lighting upgrades are the result of a cooperative effort between the City of Fayetteville, Fayetteville Main Street, Lincoln County, Fayetteville Public Utilities, and grant funding from the state.

Applications will begin to be taken about November of 2007 for a grant to improve the living conditions of homes throughout the community. Other funding will be used to work with landowners to demolish structures which are beyond repair.

We are also working on design plans for a new skateboard park to be constructed near the Recreation Center.
